The Proper Golf
Stance
|
I wanted to finish up very quickly on alignment. We
talked quite a bit on alignment in our last article, and I
wanted to get a couple more thoughts your way.
Constantly spot checking your alignment in the game of golf
is a must.
Remember there are all kinds of hills, angles, lefts, and
rights on a golf course that can cause you to make subtle
adjustments to your alignment which will cause your alignment
to slowly creep out of whack.
Even the best golfers aren’t immune to this even though they
work constantly on their alignment and are very conscious of it
with every shot.
Remember, each and every time you practice your golf game,
include some time checking your alignment. Not only with your
feet and the club on the ground as we talked about last time,
but once you have your stance set, place a club across the
front of your shoulders and make sure your shoulders are
pointing down the same target line. Remember, a lot of bad
shots are really good shots that just followed bad
alignment.
Practice, practice, practice your alignment. I know
it’s not the most glamorous thing to work on, but it is one of
the most important. Picking out a spot in front of you that
aligns with your target, then aligning yourself appropriately
should be a part of your every golf shot routine.
Let us not waste those precious good golf shots, on bad
alignment.
Now get out there and practice properly setting up to your
target because up next we are going to talk about your swing
path, your club face, and how the two of these come together
with the 9 rules of ball flight.
This is the stuff drives my wife nuts when I work with
her!!!
But I'm going to anyway!
Once you understand this you’ll be able to much more
effectively analyze your golf swing and begin to make immediate
improvements.
Play Good Golf!
