Golf
Apparel:
Look Good
& Be
Prepared
|
There is certainly no shortage of choices today when
it comes to picking up some great golf apparel.
Just about every
manufacturer has joined in on the popularity of golf and
subsequently has begun adding golf styles to their
clothing line.
Knickers have
come and gone a couple of different times. As with any
fashion what is in and what is out changes year after
year. With some good solid basics you can keep your
personal golf apparel up to speed for several years at a
time.
You want to look
the part of the golfer and you certainly want to add to
the respect of the game and look sharp when you head off
to the course.
And let’s not
forget about Mother Nature.
Although most of
don’t intentionally head out to play golf in bad weather,
our fervent desire to get our game in can sometimes
result in the weather Gods checking out just what type of
protection we remembered to bring with
us.
As with any type
of clothing buying golf apparel is no different. Once you
find something that attracts your eye, comfort and
freedom of movement is the deciding
factor.
Golf shirts and golf slacks have
remained much unchanged over the years with the key being
comfort and freedom of movement.
Today’s golf
shirts and slacks are the beneficiary of modern
technology. For the hot summer months of golf many of the
shirts and slacks today offer very breathable fabrics
that help keep you ventilated, cooler, and dryer. For the
cooler fall and winter days, the best advice is to go
with lighter well insulated layers and sleeveless vest
that allow for a good range of motion.
Layering is also
best on those days when the mornings are chilly but as
the day progresses it warms up. If you go with layers you
can always peal off a layer as the temperature rises.
Also remember, if you take layers with you, you can
always pull one off but if you don’t bring them you can’t
use them. And why loose strokes early in the round
because you aren’t comfortable because you didn’t dress
properly.
On a final note,
I think that a good golf rain suit is often times
overlooked, put off, or perhaps really skimped on. I
would suggest that you don’t. Sure it’s sometimes
mentally tough to justify the cost for something that you
don’t wear that often, and in fact most of us don’t
intentionally head out to play golf in the rain. But, it
does happen. And if you are sporting a good quality rain
suit as part of your golf apparel you’ll be glad you
did.
Play Good Golf!
